Galan Lithium drills brine in maiden hole at lithium project

The intersected brine has now been dispatched to a lab for lithium assaying.

Galan Lithium Ltd (ASX:GLN) has encountered a substantial intersection of brine in its maiden drill hole at the Candelas Lithium Brine Project on the Hombre Muerto salar in Argentina.

The hole, C‐01‐19, intersected the brine from depths of 235 metres to the hole’s current depth of ~300 metres.

Galan’s managing director, Juan Pablo Vargas de la Vega said: “We are delighted that we have successfully encountered this amount of brine in ideal host sediments in our very first drill hole at Candelas.

“Whilst we still await confirmation that the brine is lithium bearing, the fact that brines even exist in an area not previously thought to be prospective is particularly pleasing and augers well for the continued exploration of the 15-kilometre-long channel at the project.”

Early results positive, assays pending

These early results from the first hole drilled at Candelas confirm the company’s geological model that brine does exist within the feeder channel into Hombre Muerto.

Whilst it is early days, the Galan is encouraged by this initial success and now awaits confirmation that the brine is lithium bearing via pending lab assays.

Progress of drill program going well

Progress to date by the Galan team on site has been very positive.

The drilling rates, achieved by Canadian based international drilling company Major Drilling, has also allowed the company to achieve its initial goals in a very short time frame.
