Serabi Gold shines as it increases strike extensions at Coringa project

A look at some of the biggest risers and fallers in London on Wednesday

Serabi Gold PLC (LON:SRB) shares climbed 6.3% to 41p in late-afternoon trading as the miner announced an increase in strike extensions at its Coringa gold project in Brazil.

The company said exploration drilling at the Serra, Meio and Galena ore zones had revealed a series of high grade gold intersections that “significantly” extended previously modelled zones.

Another exploration firm, Kodal Minerals PLC (LON:KOD), jumped 2% to 0.19p as it acquired more ground close to its Bougouni lithium prospect in Mali.

Kodal will pay current owner Bampara £185,000 in cash and £195,000 in shares over three stages for an 80% stake that will give it exclusive rights to explore the new concessions.

Completing the mining trifecta was Erris Resources PLC (LON:ERIS), which saw its shares rise 7% to 7.5p after the latest drill results from the Abbeytown zinc-lead-silver-copper project in Ireland extended mineralisation south to join with the surface drilling completed last year.

In doing so it had expanded “the overall size and potential of the mineralised system” said chief executive Anton du Plessis.

1.00pm: Aukett Swanke plunges as full year loss widens

Shares in Aukett Swanke Group PLC (LON:AUK) plunged 24% to 0.99p in lunchtime trading after the architecture and interior design firm posted a wider loss for the year.

In the 12 months ended September 2018, the company reported a pretax loss of £2.5mln, wider than the £325,000 loss the year before.

This was attributed to a 22% drop in revenues to £14.4mln after Aukett’s markets in both the UK and the United Arab Emirates suffered delays as well as a lower order book.

Meanwhile, BlueRock Diamonds PLC (LON:BRD) shares rose 4.3% to 0.34p after operations recommenced at the Kareevlei Diamond Mine in the Kimberley region of South Africa following the lifting of a temporary suspension imposed by the country’s mining regulator after an accident at the mine.

The AIM-listed diamond producer, which owns and operates Kareevlei, also reported that the individual involved in the accident is expected to make a full recovery.

11.20am: Solid State PLC surges on bullish trading update

Solid State PLC (LON:SOLI) shares surged 11% to 405p in late-morning after the specialist electronics maker issued a bullish trading update.

The firm said that for the full year ending 31 March, results would “comfortably exceed” market expectations while revenues were expected to be above current guidance and adjusted profits “significantly ahead”.

Meanwhile, oil group Ophir Energy Plc (LON:OPHR) jumped 6.5% to 53.9p after it agreed to a £390mln takeover offer from Indonesian rival Medco Energi.

Ophir produces around 25,000 barrels of oil equivalent in the South-East Asia region, meaning Medco’s production will top 100,000 barrels per day after the takeover is completed.

The 55p per share offer was an upgrade on a previous offer of 48.5p earlier this month which was rejected by shareholders.

Elsewhere, shares in Katoro Gold PLC (LON:KAT) leapt 6.1% to 0.69p after a review and analysis of all historic work undertaken on the Haneti Nickel Project (HNP) in Tanzania led it to identify several high priority exploration targets.

The exploration and development company said a new prepared work programme has commenced, with a soil sampling programme completed and ready to be submitted for laboratory analysis.

10.00am: Yu Group rockets as it restates loss guidance despite revenue miscalculation

Shares in energy supplier Yu Group PLC (LON:YU) rocketed 96% to 132.5p in early trading after the firm restated its expected loss for the year despite a previous revenue miscalculation.

In a trading update for the year ended 31 December, the firm confirmed its adjusted pre-tax loss was still expected to be between £7.35mln and £7.85mln.

Revenue for the year was expected to be approximately £80mln. The group currently has in excess of £85mln of revenue contracted for 2019.

In December, the company said an accounting review had resulted in a reduction in profitability of around £13mln, landing it at the £7.35mln loss forecast.

Meanwhile, marketing firm Taptica PLC (LON:TAP) surged 17.6% to 197p after it said it was planning a merger with fellow online video marketing firm RhythmOne PLC (LON:RTHM).

The deal is structured as an offer by Taptica that will see it owning 50.1% of the enlarged group and Rhythm One owning the remaining 49.9%.

Elsewhere, BigDish Plc (LON:DISH) jumped 11.4% to 1.9p after announcing the appointment of Sanj Naha as its CEO from mid-February, with founder Joost Boer to step down as a director but remain with the company as its chief product officer.

The food technology company, which operates a yield management platform for restaurants, noted that Naha has significant experience in restaurant and hospitality technology platforms in the UK and Europe, having held senior positions at companies such as Tripadvisor and Bookatable.

In the fallers, recruitment firm Staffline Group PLC (LON:STAF) tumbled 11.8% to 882p after it delayed the publication of its full year results.

The group said the accompanying presentations for analysts and private investors, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday respectively, would be rescheduled.
