Golden Rim Resources Ltd (ASX:GMR) has obtained the best gold intersection to date in reverse circulation (RC) drilling at its Kouri Gold Project in Burkina Faso.
Drilling focused on a newly-identified footwall shear and returned assays as high as 89.5 g/t gold from 23 holes.
The footwall shear is adjacent to the existing 1.4-million-ounce mineral resource at Kouri.

Highlighted results include: 4 metres at 44.7 g/t from 34 metres, including 2 metres at 89.5 g/t from 34 metres; 3 metres at 8.4 g/t from 10 metres, including 1 metre at 18.8 g/t from 11 metres; and 12 metres at 0.7 g/t from 32 metres.
The assay of 4 metres at 44.7 g/t is the highest drilled at Kouri and is about 500 metres from the mineral resource within a river channel with alluvial sediment cover.
‘Highly-attractive exploration target’
Golden Rim managing director Craig Mackay said the company was excited about the high-grades obtained from the footwall shear and river channel to the west of Kouri’s mineral resource.
Mackay said: “The magnetic anomaly associated with the footwall shear offers a highly-attractive exploration target.
“The anomaly extends for more than 5 kilometres within the Kouri licence and then continues for at least the same distance into the Goueli and Margou licences that Golden Rim is currently in the process of acquiring.
“To date, the footwall shear has only been subjected to limited drilling and therefore we look forward to systematically testing this target.”

The target was identified in a recent structural study completed by SRK Consulting which interpreted the main cross-cutting east-west magnetic linear anomaly as a footwall shear.
The study also suggests the footwall shear may be the main fluid transfer pathway that mobilised mineralising fluids into the mineral resource area.
Golden Rim is planning a systematic drilling program to test the anomaly which extends for at least 5 kilometres within Kouri.
Trenching in the river channel, which is dry most of the year, will begin soon to confirm the orientation of mineralisation prior to further drilling.
A number of similarly-oriented shear zones throughout Kouri have also been identified, which offer attractive future exploration targets.
