Golden Rim Resources Ltd (ASX:GMR) has exposed substantial new gold mineralisation in trenching and soil sampling outside the 1-million-ounce mineral resource at its Kouri Gold Project in Burkina Faso.
The company is targeting the new gold zones in a 3,000-metre reverse circulation (RC) drilling program which is on track to begin later this month.
Highlighted soil sample assays from the new zones include: 3.3 metres at 3.2 g/t gold, including 1 metre at 9.3 g/t; 23 metres at 2.5 g/t, including 1 metre at 38.8 g/t; and 2 metres at 32.4 g/t, including 1 metre at 64.1 g/t.
The trenching was undertaken by SRK Consulting as part of geological mapping for a structural study being completed at Kouri.
Golden Rim managing director Craig Mackay said the company was very pleased with the results from the trenching program.
“At a low cost we have identified several exciting new gold lodes at Kouri that lie immediately outside our 1-million-ounce mineral resource.
“These results further demonstrate the considerable exploration upside in the immediate mineral resource area at Kouri.
“The commencement of our RC drilling at Kouri remains on track for later this month, which will include testing the extent of the new gold lodes identified in the trenching."
Mackay added that Ausdrill’s RC rig had remained on-site since the last program, enabling drilling to begin quickly.

The company dug two trenches for a cumulative length of around 1.3 kilometres, exposing gold mineralisation over the Guitorga lodes which lies under shallow soil cover.
Both trenches confirmed the gold lodes comprising Kouri’s mineral resource as well as exposing new zones outside of any area that had previously been drilled.
Channel rock sampling was conducted at 1-metre intervals from north to south along the trenches and a total of 247 samples were collected and analysed for gold.

Drilling is planned to begin later this month and will be conducted under the drilling-for-equity agreement with Ausdrill Limited (ASX:ASL).
Subject to further drilling and study results, the RC drilling program aims to test:
The new gold lodes identified in trenching;
Auger bedrock anomalies at Guitorga West, Guitorga North and Red Hill;
The river channel area between Guitorga West and the mineral resource; and
Targets identified by the structural study, including potential high-grade gold shoots within and beneath the mineral resource.
