Trek Metals Ltd (ASX:TKM) has intersected further high-grade zinc and lead at its Kroussou project in Gabon, demonstrating the potential for multiple, very large zinc-lead ore systems.
The results indicate the presence of sulphide-dominated zinc-lead mineralisation that has been intersected at or very near to surface.
Drilling focused on targets within the Dikaki channel, the most advanced of Kroussou's prospects and the first of several channels for which Trek expects to define JORC resources in 2019.
'An ore-forming system of significance'
Best results from drilling at Dikaki included: 5.5 metres at 1.2% zinc-lead from 15.1 metres; 4.2 metres at 1.8% from 32 metres; 1.7 metres at 4.6% from 20.2 metres; and 7.8 metres at 2.5% from 33 metres.
Trek managing director Bradley Drabsch said the latest results continue to validate the company's exploration approach.
He said: "[The results] signal that we are genuinely onto an ore-forming system of significance that could produce numerous, very large mineralised bodies located at or very close to the surface.
"Dominated by sulphide ore minerals, these deposits would potentially be very easy to mine and process and present real company-making opportunities.
"We have yet to explore the broader basin to the west, which is potentially where even larger, even more significant mineralisation could be hidden under cover."

Trek has also confirmed the potential for the Bouambo South channel, 4 kilometres southwest from Dikaki, to host substantial mineralisation.
Diamond drilling targeting soil anomalies and rock chips as well as results released in September, which included 5.8 metres at 6.5% zinc-lead from 10.2 metres, provide confidence that mineralisation is widespread within the Bouambo channel.
The company considers understanding the scale and nature of anomalism and mineralisation present in Kroussou's channels key to unlocking its potential.
The channels provide large-tonnage targets with the volume of rock present in the broader western basin offering an opportunity for discovering super-giant base metal deposits.
