Strategic Elements fixes development issue for printable memory technology

Results between labs have been varying causing development delays.

Strategic Elements Ltd (ASX:SOR) has identified several fabrication and testing procedures it believes to have caused previous development delays to its Nanocube Memory Ink technology.

The Nanocube Memory Ink is an advanced nanotechnology material under development to be printed or coated onto non-silicon transparent or flexible surfaces such as glass or plastic to store and retrieve data.

Notably, memory devices created by employing the aforementioned revised practices were subsequently successfully fabricated and tested.

Solving the problem of variability between labs

In the development of nanotechnology such as this, it is common for environments, equipment, processing steps, characterization tools and materials to vary between laboratories.

The development team at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the CSIRO recently conducted a program of work to resolve variability in results between the two laboratories.

Fabricated devices were tested for electrical response and device switching.

Positively, all memory cells tested operated as expected for multiple switching cycles and no device failure was experienced.

The variability of results between different laboratories working on the technology has been the cause of recent ongoing delays.

Strategic is pleased to have identified and solved the development delay issue.

Forming a new agreement with CSIRO

Strategic is now forming an agreement to build more advanced versions of Memory Ink devices at CSIRO under the revised procedures.

An update will be released when this has been completed.
