Data will be presented at a conference that suggests Motif Bio Plc’s (LON:MTFB) next generation antibiotic has a number of advantages over the current crop of drugs designed combat infection. A review of the two phase III studies carried out on iclaprim showed there were fewer adverse events among diabetic patients taking the drug than those on the standard of care, a treatment called Vancomycin.

Haydale Graphene Industries PLC (LON:HAYD) has appointed Keith Broadbent as group chief operating officer to take overall responsibility for global operations. Other boardroom changes see David Banks, previously non-executive chairman, become interim executive chairman while Roger Humm is now senior independent non-executive.

Primary Health Properties PLC (LON:PHP) has acquired three modern, purpose built primary care centres in the Republic of Ireland.

Summit Therapeutics PLC (LON:SUMM, NASDAQ:SMMT) said it will kick off a phase I clinical trial of a new antibiotic for gonorrhoea in the second half of next year. It follows the nomination of SMT-571 as its lead candidate to tackle the sexually transmitted infection.

Kodal Minerals PLC (LON:KOD) has published a first mineral resource for its Bougouni lithium project in Southern Mali. Based on the three most advanced prospects, Bougouni has an inferred 17.3 million tonnes (Mt) at a grade of 1.2% lithium.

Fuel cell firm AFC Energy plc (LON:AFC) told investors that it has been invited to join the Hydrogen Council, a coalition for hydrogen technologies. AFC will be a new ‘supporting member’ alongside five other members - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Re-Fire Technology, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, and SoCalGas.

Galileo Resources PLC (LON:GLR) has reported a narrowed full-year net loss while also revealing a post-period conceptual tonnage grade (CGT) model for the results of its latest drilling programme at its Star Zinc project. The AIM-listed mining firm reported a net loss for the year of £1.02mln, less than the £1.38mln loss in 2017, while its balance for cash and cash equivalents for the year stood at £539,301 compared to £1.1mln last year.

Vast Resources PLC (LON:VAST) updated investors on efforts to finance the Blueberry project, in Western Romania, as the company advances a process with an institutional investor.

The company, which recently acquired 29.41% of Blueberry, in a statement, said that the vendors have agreed an extension to allow more time for the procurement of funds to September 15.

With cash in the bank and plans for new operations waiting in the wings, there are reasons for 88 Energy Ltd (LON:88E) to remain positive. It ended the first half with US$15.01mln of cash on hand. The Alaska focused explorer, which today released half-yearly results, recently endured a frustrating well programme - with the Icewine-2 coming to an end in early July after months of struggling in efforts to recover sufficient volumes of fracking fluid to enable hydrocarbons to flow.

ECR Minerals PLC (LON:ECR) has provided a further update in respect of the Blue Moon gold project in Victoria Region, Australia. On September 3, the company announced the identification of a significant gold target at the Blue Moon prospect and the addition of two new gold targets in the same area as Blue Moon, now named Yellow Moon and Red Moon.

Further to its announcement on 29 August 2018, Cradle Arc (LON:CRA) said Roy Pitchford and Michael Golding have been appointed its non-executive chairman and a non-executive director respectively, with immediate effect. Accordingly, the group added, Toby Howell has stepped down from the board with immediate effect in order to pursue his other business interests.

W Resources PLC (LON:WRES) has appointed former executives from FTSE 100 miner Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) and Canadian mining firm Lundin Mining Corp to the management team at its La Parrilla tungsten project.

Bluejay Mining PLC (LON:JAY) has hired Dr Bo Møller Stensgaard as general manager to oversee the Dundas project as it is advanced to production. “We are delighted that Bo is joining the team and very much look forward to his contribution to deliver on the critical milestones ahead,” said Roderick McIllree, Bluejay chief executive.

Amphion Innovations Plc (LON:AMP), the developer of medical, life science, and technology businesses has announced the appointment of Stephen Austin as an additional non-executive director effective immediately. Following a career as a corporate lawyer, qualified executive and corporate stockbroker, the group pointed out that Austin is now the chief investment officer of Plumtree Capital Limited, an FCA authorised corporate finance firm.

Berkeley Energia Ltd’s (LON:BKY) Salamanca project in Spain has received local community support through a petition signed by nearly 1,500 residents from towns surrounding the site.
