Legend Mining extends successful exploration methods to southern portion of Fraser Range project

A 150-hole, 10,000-metre aircore drilling program is underway targeting conductors at Areas J, Q and U.

Legend Mining Limited (ASX:LEG) has extended its systematic exploration approach with extensive regional aircore drilling underway in the southern portion of its Rockford project in Western Australia.

This drill method has identified nickel-copper-cobalt mineralisation at the Fraser Range property, providing comparisons to Independence Group NL’s (ASX:IGO) nearby Nova-Bollinger deposit.

It is now being utilised in a 150-hole program for about 10,000 metres targeting a combination of four EM conductors and priority aeromagnetic/gravity features.

Legend managing director Mark Wilson said: “Following the success of the aircore drilling at Area D we are pleased to announce the details of the 10,000-metre regional program.

“Meanwhile, the planning for the next phases of work at Area D is well underway.”

The new program will be undertaken over 21 drill traverses with holes at 400-metre spacing.

It is expected to take three to four months to complete.

The design of the program results from a project-wide review and is part of Legend’s systematic approach to exploration at Rockford.

It is aimed at providing lithological and geochemical information on four previously identified electromagnetic (EM) conductors along with aeromagnetic and gravity features.

Two of the conductors are at Area J with the others at Area Q and Area U.

Planning for next work at Area D

Legend has received assay results for the remaining 18 drill hole at Area D.

While no anomalous geochemistry was encountered, the majority of the holes intersected gabbronorite.

This provides further evidence of the widespread occurrence of favourable host rocks at Area D.

To investigate Area D more fully, Legend has reviewed geophysical, geological and geochemical data, and will use this in the final design of a new exploration program.

This will incorporate innovative EM survey work.
