Legend Mining better defines scale of nickel-copper-cobalt at Fraser Range project

Aircore drilling results provide comparisons with the nearby Nova-Bollinger deposit, prompting share movement.

Legend Mining Limited (ASX:LEG) has better defined the extent of anomalous nickel-copper assays over two intrusive bodies at Area D of the Rockford project in Western Australia’s Fraser Range.

The results of aircore drilling, which also include cobalt assays, enable the company to draw strong comparisons with the nearby Nova-Bollinger deposit of Independence Group NL (ASX:IGO).

Share price on the move

They have also seen the company’s shares march upwards, with a new 12-month high of 6.6 cents reached on Friday.

Legend's managing director Mark Wilson said: "This batch of assays has completed defining the extent of the four mineralised footprints at Area D.

"The remaining assays are from drilling over other nearby features of interest.”

The latest assay results from a further eight holes include 40 metres at 0.20% nickel, 0.04% copper and 0.02% cobalt from 56 metres to the end of the hole.

Other results are 17 metres from 64 metres at 0.09% nickel, 0.01% copper and 0.02% cobalt, and 16 metres from 56 metres at 0.05% nickel, 0.05% copper and 0.01% cobalt.

Results from other holes designed to test other interesting aeromagnetic and gravity features at Area D are pending.

The recent drill holes and previously reported holes have further defined the extent of the nickel-copper anomalism over the favourable olivine-bearing gabbronorite intrusive.

Assessing Area D data

Legend is now carrying out a full geological and geochemical assessment of the Area D aircore drilling program.

The review of aircore drilling data and geophysics will help determine the next steps at Area D.

Wilson said: "Our focus is now to review, with our consultants and joint venture partner, the drilling data from the last eight months of work.

“This will be integrated with the geophysical data collected earlier in the project to determine how we proceed from here.

"It is important that we tap all available resources to ensure the best contemporary information from the region is fed into this process."

Legend is also about to start a regional aircore program over selected targets in the south of the Rockford project.
