St George Mining drilling reveals more nickel-copper sulphides

Drilling continues to hit nickel-copper sulphides across the 4.5-kilometre strike of the Cathedrals Belt.

St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ) has completed further drilling at each of its three key prospect areas within the Mt Alexander Project near Leonora in Western Australia.

At the Stricklands prospect, a downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) survey has identified a nearby conductor and preliminary results from recently drilled holes shows more sulphide mineralisation.

At both the Investigators and Cathedrals prospects, multiple new drill holes have been completed.

Stricklands MAD104 hits mineralisation in conductor target

a recently completed DHEM survey in hole MAD96 identified a strong off-hole EM conductor 20 metres from the hole.

Hole MAD104 was drilled to test this conductor and intersected 6.25 metres of sulphide mineralisation.

Preliminary XRF gun readings of a 3.34 metre section averaged 5.5% nickel and 1.7% copper.

MAD104 intersection suggests more hidden shallow mineralisation

St George’s executive chairman John Prineas said: “Our high success rate in testing EM targets along the Cathedrals Belt has continued with all EM targets drilled being confirmed as nickel-copper sulphides.

“Perhaps more significantly, we have also intersected additional thick massive sulphides at Stricklands in an area where previous ground-based EM surveys did not identify any conductors.

“This provides encouragement that the extent of mineralisation at Stricklands could be greater than indicated by the surface EM surveys.”

Drill holes MAD105, MAD106, MAD107 have also been completed at Stricklands with small sections of sulphide mineralisation detected in MAD105 and MAD106.

Five more holes completed at Investigators

Recent drilling completed at Investigators focused on the first deep drilling of additional SAMSON EM targets.

Drilling across Investigators to date has delivered 15 intersections of massive nickel-copper sulphides but the large surface EM signature at Investigators is not fully accounted for by these drill results.

Most notably, drill hole MAD97 intersected 13.98 metres of sulphide mineralisation with XRF readings of up to 3% nickel and 5% copper.

Drill holes MAD98, MAD99, MAD100 and MAD101 did not intersect mineralisation but DHEM surveys have identified strong EM conductor targets.

Notably, the target identified off-hole from MAD98 is down-dip from the best ever intersection at Investigators, 5.3 metres at 4.95% nickel, 2.75% copper, 0.16% cobalt, and 4.55 g/t total PGEs from 157.9 metres.

Two holes at Cathedrals

Two drill holes were also completed at the Cathedrals, MAD102 and MAD103.

MAD103 intersected a similar profile of sulphide mineralisation as in MAD56, which returned 7.5 metres at 3.90% nickel, 1.74% copper, 0.12% cobalt and 3.32 g/t total PGEs from 57.8 metres.

No visible sulphides were observed in MAD102.
