St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ) has received the much-anticipated assays for the high-grade intersection recently drilled out at the Stricklands Prospect within the Mt Alexander Project, Western Australia.
Assays confirm 17.45 metres at 3.01% nickel, 1.31% copper, 0.13% cobalt and 1.68 g/t total platinum group elements from 37.45 metres.

Drilling continues at Stricklands with two new holes now complete since the last drilling update, MAD80 and MAD81.
Confident of intersecting further high grade nickel-copper sulphides
John Prineas, chairman, said: “We are very pleased to receive the laboratory assays for MAD71 which confirm this as an outstanding intersection of high grade nickel-copper sulphides.
“The assays have also confirmed strong values for cobalt and PGEs, consistent with other high grade mineralisation intersected at the Mt Alexander Project.
“Drilling continues to confirm extensions to the mineralised ultramafic at Stricklands and we are confident of intersecting further high grade nickel-copper sulphides.”
Assays from MAD71 confirm best ever intersection at project
Drill hole MAD71 is one of nine holes completed at Stricklands in the current program.
MAD71 intersected 17.45 metres at 3.01% nickel, 1.31% copper, 0.13% cobalt and 1.68 g/t total platinum group elements from 37.45 metres.
This included massive sulphide zones of 5.3 metres at 4.39% nickel, 1.45% copper, 0.21% cobalt and 2.09 g/t total PGEs and 2.02 metres at 5.05% nickel, 2.01% copper, 0.21% cobalt and 3.31 g/t total PGEs.
Areas of strong anomaly yet to be drill tested
Seven of the nine drill holes have intersected nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation.
These results extend the mineralised ultramafic at Stricklands east and north-west of MAD71, with further areas of the strong SAMSON electromagnetic anomaly yet to be drill tested.
Latest drill holes, MAD80 and MAD81, hit more sulphides
Since the drilling update on 7 December 2017, drill holes MAD80 and MAD81 have been drilled and visually inspected.

Both have intersected the target ultramafic, with MAD81 intersecting a total of 1.65 metres of massive and matrix nickel-copper sulphides within a broader interval of over 11 metres of sulphide mineralisation.
MAD80 was drilled to a downhole depth of 160 metres and intersected a thin zone of ultramafic between 65.3 and 67.1 metres which included disseminated nickel-copper sulphides.
Two more holes before Christmas
A further two drill holes are planned to be completed prior to the Christmas break.
Furthermore, assays from multiple completed holes remain pending.
