Internet of Things (IoT) specialist Telit Communications PLC (LON:TCM) has received certification for its long term evolution (LTE) wireless communication module for operation on AT&T’s LTE network in the US.
The ME910C1-NA module is the first of its LTE Category M1 products to be certified for the US telecommunications company’s LTE nationwide network.
LTE is also known as 4G and Telit’s technology is designed to replace 2G and 3G in devices to allow for faster internet speed and lower power consumption.
In reaction, Telit shares were over 21%, or 28.75p higher at 161.25p in late afternoon trading.

"This is an important milestone for Telit customers,” said interim chief executive Yosi Fait in a statement.
“Our existing customers using 2G or 3G modules from Telit can now move to the newly certified Cat M1 module, go through the required AT&T testing with our help and start deploying Cat M1 products in a matter of weeks."
Fait is in charge while the group looks for a replacement for Oozi Cats who resigned from his position earlier this month following a recent internal investigation into alleged historical indictments.

Telit's LTE Cat M1 module is based on Qualcomm's LTE modem and accelerates migration of existing 2G and 3G connections and shortens time-to-market for new IoT devices.
The company said the module supports industries that demand lower costs, security and extended product lifecycles.
It can be used for new applications in segments such as telematics, smart energy and metering, asset tracking, retail point of sale, security and surveillance, industrial control and automation, smart home, and smart buildings.
