Today will be dominated by speculation over whether the FBI’s clearance of Hillary Clinton of any wrong-doing in its emails investigation will be enough to get her over the line.
The latest polls suggest the Democratic candidate has a three or four point lead over her Republican rival, but there is a suspicion that a lot of the “don’t know” respondents are really “don’t want to admit I am voting for Trump” voters.
On the corporate front, retailer Marks & Spencer PLC (LON:MKS) is due to unveil its interims.
It’s been widely speculated that Marks – which has struggled in recent years – will announce that it is to close dozens of UK stores and several shops abroad as part of a strategy review.
According to industry figures, M&S saw its clothing market share decline by 5% in October, making it its ‘least bad’ month in almost two years.
Analysts will be looking out for signs of positive momentum in this division, as well as any revisions to guidance.
