To raise £24mln and still be one of the best risers Friday was an impressive achievement from Berkeley Energia (LON:BKY).
The uranium explorer indicated it wanted to raise £16-24mln but got the full amount as institutions clamoured for the new shares.
Issued at 45p, Berkeley said the placing was heavily oversubscribed by institutional investors keen to back the mine development at Salamanca in Spain.
The cash will be used to fund the construction of the crushing circuit at the centralised processing plant, as well as other infrastructure items, Berkeley said.
Ascent Resources PLC (LON:AST) was another handy riser, adding 6% to 1.33p, as the export production pipeline that runs from its Petisovci field to the Croatian border was recertified.
Cluff Natural Resources PLC (LON:CLNR), down 25% to 2.74p. The natural resources investor is looking to raise £1.8mln through a share issue at a price of 2.5p – quite a discount on yesterday’s close.
Deltex Medical Group plc (LON:DEMG) had a rollercoaster day and was 3% lower at 4p having been up 6% to 4.4p earlier in the day. The company has won its most significant order from a NHS hospital for its Oesophageal Doppler Monitoring equipment for over two years.
Tri-Star Resources PLC (LON:TSTR) was a riser, up 10% to 0.13p. The miner said construction of the Oman Antimony Roaster is “progressing well”, with major capital items due to arrive on site early next year.
DFS Furniture Plc (LON:DFS) fell 11% to 235p. US private equity firm Advent International Corp has slashed its stake in DFS by half. Advent was DFS’ largest shareholder this time last year, but it has since cut its stake twice.

Windar Photonics PLC (LON:WPHO), up 26% to 107p. One happy customer in the US placed a repeat order for more of Windar’s wind sensors after being impressed by the technology.
Best of the Best plc (LON:BOTB), up 11% to 235.5p. The luxury car competition host enjoyed a strong six months with profit before tax ahead of management expectations.
Forbidden Technologies plc (LON:FBT), up 11% to 12.2p. The firm’s video editing technology has been chosen for use on Royal Holloway University’s project which is looking into the history of television production.
FALLERS
Miton Group PLC (LON:MGR), down 5% to 29p. Miton’s sales and marketing director has resigned from his position with immediate effect, with the firm only just starting their search for his successor.
LGO Energy PLC (LON:LGO), down 5% to 0.09p. The wet season in Trinidad disrupted production at its Goudron Field project in Trinidad.
