Risers & Fallers: Clontarf, Petrel, Chemring, Debenhams, Mkango Resouces, Zegona Comm

It could all be about to happen in Ghana's Tano Basin but it is looking a bit drab at Debenhams

Below are some of the main news-driven share price changes at 3.30pm.

RISERS

Clontarf Energy PLC (LON:CLON), up 19%. The Ghanaian Ministry of Petroleum is available for negotiations on Clontarf's proposals for amended coordinates of the Tano Basin block that the company originally applied for in 2008.

Petrel Resources PLC (LON:PET), up 11%. Petrel is one of Clontarf’s partners in the Tano Basin block (see above).

Chemring Group PLC (LON:CHG), up 6.3%. After yesterday’s profit warning and share price collapse, a director has bought a few shares and perked up the share price.

FALLERS

Debenhams PLC (LON:DEB), down 5.5%. The department store chain was hit by challenging trading conditions as the department store saw sales growth down by almost two thirds in the 15 weeks to June.

Mkango Resources Limited (LON:MKA), down 5.0%. The rare earths junior is to acquire new airborne data that covers the majority of its Phalombe and Thambani licences in Malawi.

Zegona Comm PLC (LON:ZEG), down 3.8%. MASMOVIL has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of Xfera Móviles (Yoigo), so, not surprisingly, Zegona has terminated all discussions on its own proposed Yoigo transaction.

Below are some of the main news-driven share price changes at 1.00pm.

RISERS

Ferrum Crescent Ltd (LON:FCR), up 17%. All resolutions at today’s AGM were passed on a show of hands.

Dalradian Resources Inc (LON:DALR), up 6.7%. The company published metallurgical test results, including overall gold recovery of 94.3%, for its Curraghinalt deposit in Northern Ireland.

Advanced Oncotherapy PLC (LON:AVO), up 4.4%. The AGM presentation must be a corker, because the shares rose on the news that the cancer therapy specialist has just posted it on its web site.

FALLERS

Providence Resources PLC (LON:PVR), down 7.3%. The shares are back from suspension after the company unveiled a new US$76.6mln rescue package.

Highlands Natural Resources Plc (LON:HNR), down 6.5%. Warrants for an additional 100,000 shares have been exercised, lifting the total number of shares in issue to 34.1mln.

Wentworth Resources Ltd (LON:WRL), down 5.5%. The East Africa-focused oil & gas company’s operational update received a lukewarm reception. Heavy rains in April curtailed volumes, while orders in June were hit by a dispute between a power plant and the state utility company.

Below are some of the main news-driven share price changes at 9.00am.

RISERS

Mirada Plc (LON:MIRA), up 24%. The gestation period has been about two years, but the full commercial roll-out of Mirada’s Iris multi-screen solution for Mexican telecoms giant izzi Telecom is about to happen. It’s far and away Mirada’s biggest deal to date. See Big day for Mirada as izzi Telecom roll-out begins

Cap-XX Limited (LON:CPX), up 7.0%. The company has secured new orders for its super-capacitor solutions for both passenger vehicle and heavy vehicle automotive applications.

Avacta Group PLC (LON:AVCT), up 4.9%. The developer of Affimer biotherapeutics and research reagents has identified three Affimer proteins capable of binding to a recombinant form of a secreted Zika virus NS1 protein, which is diagnostic of Zika virus infection at the early, acute stage.

FALLERS

Lansdowne Oil & Gas PLC (LON:LOGP), down 47%. The shares are back from suspension after the company announced a major funding deal last Friday.

Hornby Plc (LON:HRN), down 9.4%. The shares got shunted lower to 29p after this morning’s results were accompanied by news of shares being placed at 27p.

Elementis PLC (LON:ELM), down 9.0%. The speciality chemicals company warned that market conditions outside of North America continue to be tough for its chromium business, due to currency weakness. Consequently, earnings per share for the year as a whole are expected to be below the range of market expectations.
