RISERS

Darty (LON:DRTY) up 18.2%. French retailer Fnac has made a proposal to buy Darty £533mln and could create a French market leader in electronics.

Fulcrum Utility Services (LON:FCRM) up 9.1%. The company said it was on track to meet full year expectations and confirmed plans to pay a maiden annual dividend of 0.4p per share. The share price may also have benefited from an Ofgem announcement on Wednesday that gas network companies will increase grid connections to households in "fuel poverty" by 18% to more than 90,000 by 2021.

North River Resources (LON:NRRP) up 7.1%. The company has started on the early stage work for re-starting its Namib lead and zinc mine.

FALLERS

Renewable Energy Holdings (LON:REH) down 26.7%. The company noted there is serious doubt as to whether its Welsh wind farm will be given planning permission, adding that even if it does, finding funding will be difficult with the down outlook for the renewable energy sector.

Madagascar Oil (LON:MOIL) down 22.8%. Shares slipped back after gaining 30% yesterday on the heels of the funding announcement.

SerVision (LON:SEV) down 10.3%. The company said it had a healthy pipeline of business going into the second half as it revealed it had been hit by order delays in the first six months of the year.

RISERS

Strat Aero (LON:AERO) up 34.7%. The drone expert bought Geocurve Holdings, a drone inspection and survey company which works with a number of blue-chip companies, including the UK’s environment agency, EDF Energy, Carillion (LON:CLLN) and RSPB.

APR Energy (LON:APR) up 17.8%. The company received a one month extension from its bank on its financial covenant date from September 30 to October 31.

Glencore (LON:GLEN) up 10.3%. The company issued a brief statement in an effort to reassure the market and investors that it is stable. Glencore’s shares have dived in recent months as commodity prices have fallen.

FALLERS

Koovs (LON:KOOV) down 31%. The India-focused online clothes seller saw its pre-tax losses widen on higher costs related to marketing, despite a substantial rise in sales.

Microsaic Systems (LON:MSYS) down 31%. Pre-tax losses widened to £1.8mln from £1.5mln a year ago as it announced a share issue of 9.7mln shares at 33p to raise £3.2mln.

Outsourcery (LON:OUT) down 16.2%. Loss before tax narrowed as Lawrence Jones, an entrepreneur and investor in cloud-based companies, bought £1mln shares in the company. However, sales were slower than anticipated in the first half.

DQ Entertainment (LON:DQE) up 52.4%. The company received a letter from Platinum Consulting Group, Anil Chintapalli and Corporate Computer Services requisitioning it to hold an extraordinary general meeting to propose the appointment of Anil Chintapalli and Suresh Chitturi as directors. The three own 51.78% of the company.

Serica Energy (LON:SQZ) up 45.5%. Its North Sea Erskine field is back up and running after 9 months, with around 50% production being gas, mitigating low oil prices. It has no commitments that cannot be funded from existing cash.

Sainsbury (LON:SBRY) up 11.8%. The supermarket chain forecast annual profits ahead of hopes although second quarter like-for-like sales fell.

FALLERS

Goldstone Resources (LON:GRL) down 32%. The company said exploration at some of its early stage projects was limited and consisted of work to keep the licences in good standing.

Rurelec (LON:RUR) down 21%. Disappointing results sent the share price lower.

Entertainment One (LON:ETO) down 9%. The company is putting further investment into the Peppa Pig franchise with an agreement to buy 70% of the capital of Astley Baker Davies, which jointly owns the rights to the franchise, for £140mln. It will be funded through a £200mln rights issue.
