Shares in Great Southern Copper PLC (LSE:GSCU, FRA:E9E), the London-listed company exploring for copper, gold and silver in Chile, rose over 4%, or 0.11p, to 2.40p in Wednesday morning trade after the company announced a geophysical survey in Chile.
The survey at its Cerro Negro prospect in the Especularita project comprises five lines of testing covering up to six line kilometres, designed to refine drill targets ahead of a planned fourth phase of drilling.
It will infill the previous work and extend it eastward to cover the Monolith copper-silver target and westward towards potential mineralisation in the hangingwall of the Mostaza Fault Zone.
Great Southern Copper holds full rights to the Cerro Negro prospect, which sits along a structural trend linking it to major copper deposits including Los Pelambres, Altar and El Pachon.
Chief executive Sam Garrett said the survey was a key test of the Monolith zone, where copper-silver mineralisation had been identified in outcrop across a 700 by 400 metre area.
He added that planning and permitting for the fourth drilling phase was at an advanced stage, with the company expecting to announce the start of drilling soon.
In February 2025, the company discovered high-grade copper-silver mineralisation beneath the historic Mostaza mine workings at its Cerro Negro prospect.
