Mobico Group PLC (LSE:MCG)'s second-quarter revenue rose 5% year on year, supported by continued strength at Alsa and a recovery in German Rail, while full-year guidance was left unchanged.
The owner of National Express said it is progressing with a simplified business focused on improving margins and cash generation following the exit of loss-making contracts at WeDriveU and the proposed sale of its UK Bus operations.
Alsa revenue increased 8% against the second quarter of 2025, or 13.7% excluding UK Coach. Long Haul revenue rose 7%, helped by a 4.2% increase in yield, while Regional revenue climbed 10.5% as passenger volumes increased 14.3%.
Urban revenue advanced 6.4%, with passenger volumes up 10.8%, while International and diversified revenue increased 21.3%.
UK Coach was weaker, with revenue down 16.7% as passenger numbers and yields fell and Mobico deliberately reduced unprofitable routes.
German Rail revenue rose 19.3% following a return to full operations and the signing of revised rail contracts.
WeDriveU revenue fell 11.8%, largely due to the exit of loss-making contracts. Mobico said operational challenges affected performance during the quarter, although corrective action had since stabilised the business.
UK Bus revenue declined 1.8% on lower commercial patronage.
Mobico agreed in principle last month to sell the net assets and operations of UK Bus to the West Midlands Combined Authority, with completion expected in November.
The company said the transaction would monetise the division’s assets and substantially reduce its exposure to uncertainty surrounding future franchising in the region.
