Genflow Biosciences Ltd (LSE:GENF, OTCQB:GENFF, FRA:WQ5) the London-listed biotechnology company developing gene therapies for age-related diseases, announced on Tuesday that its SLAB clinical trial had met its primary endpoint.
The trial, known formally as Sarcopenia and Longevity in Aged Beagles, tested the company's SIRT6 centenarian gene therapy in 24 dogs aged over ten.
The animals were split into four groups, including two doses of a naked DNA treatment, a single dose of a viral delivery method called AAV8, and a saline control group.
Genflow said treated dogs showed a clear improvement in biological age compared with the control group, as measured by a method called the GRIM methylation clock, which estimates biological ageing from chemical changes in DNA.
The company said the results build on earlier positive data reported in February and April of this year.
Full findings, including muscle tissue analysis, will be presented at the Animal Longevity Summit in Toronto on 1 and 2 October, an event Genflow described as the first conference dedicated solely to ageing research in companion animals.
Chief executive Eric Leire said meeting the endpoint was a defining milestone for the company.
He said the data provided a foundation for discussions with potential partners in animal health.
Genflow said it continues to hold talks with what it called tier one global animal health companies about licensing and commercial deals, without naming any prospective partners.
The company's shares trade on the London Stock Exchange and on the OTCQB market in the United States.
Genflow's broader pipeline includes a therapy targeting a liver disease called MASH, or metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis, and an eye treatment aimed at glaucoma and corneal disease.
