Talon Energy Ltd (ASX:TPD) told investors that preparations are complete for its maiden diamond drilling programme at the Eagle Lake gold project in Ontario, with rig mobilisation expected within two weeks and drilling targeted to start in the first half of September.
The fully funded and permitted programme has been expanded from 1,000 metres to 1,375 metres across 11 holes, targeting East and West Fornieri Bay, Cedar Trench and Moss Knoll (NYSE:KNL).
The work was brought forward from the fourth quarter following encouraging Phase 1 channel sampling, including 4.80 metres at 4.47 g/t gold, with a one-metre section grading 19.10 g/t, at East Fornieri Bay.
Talon has also used MINML’s PRISM machine-learning platform to refine drill locations. All four drill areas rank within the top 1.5% of the model’s predicted prospectivity, with Cedar Trench ranking highest at the 99.9th percentile.
Chief executive Alex King said the strength and number of targets justified accelerating and expanding the programme, adding that assays will follow once drilling is completed.
