Predator Oil & Gas inks rig contract for new Trinidad well

Predator Oil & Gas Holdings PLC (LSE:PRD) announced it has contracted a rig for its Snowcap-3 well in Trinidad, moving the programme towards drilling as updated subsurface work indicated an extrapolated 600-foot oil column in the primary Herrera #8 Sand target.

Star Valley Drilling (Trinidad) Limited will provide Rig 205, with drilling and well testing scheduled to begin shortly after Predator completes the MOU-6 well in Morocco. The sequencing is intended to allow the company's management team to supervise the programmes in the two jurisdictions.

Predator said analysis integrating Snowcap-2ST-1, Snowcap-1 and Rochard-1 results with new 3D seismic interpretation supports the 600-foot Herrera #8 oil column. SC-3 is forecast to test the interval about 170 feet above the lowest known oil at Rochard-1, while the secondary Herrera #1 target will be evaluated roughly 200 feet above its Rochard-1 oil-water contact.

Chief executive Paul Griffiths said pre-drilling preparations were “progressing extremely well”, with rig contracts executed, environmental approvals in place and civil engineering work underway. Predator is also assembling equipment at its well sites ahead of the Morocco and Trinidad campaigns.
