ATOME PLC (AIM:ATOM) said negotiations over the power purchase agreement for its Villeta low-carbon fertiliser project in Paraguay remain ongoing, with a further update expected in early August.
The company said discussions continue with the relevant Paraguayan counterparties over the agreement’s specific terms. It added that the government has expressly indicated that it wants the project to succeed.
ATOME said Villeta’s international commercial partners and prospective lenders remain supportive. These include IDB Invest, the International Finance Corporation, the European Investment Bank, Dutch development bank FMO and the Global Climate Fund.
The company described Villeta as strategically important to Paraguay, with the project intended to establish domestic fertiliser production and create thousands of jobs. ATOME expects to update investors in the first part of August unless a material development occurs sooner.
