Itaconix PLC (AIM:ITX, OTCQB:ITXXF, FRA:18G0), the maker of plant-based specialty polymers used in homecare products, has extended its collaboration with Bonals Technologies until December 2028.
The two companies are working to speed the introduction of plastic-free unit-dose detergent tablets in the United States and Canada.
The partnership operates under Itaconix's SPARX Formulated Solutions business and combines the company's detergent formulations with tabletting equipment made by Bonals.
The extension deepens an agreement first signed in November 2024.
During 2025, the two companies installed a pilot-scale tablet press at Itaconix's North American Innovation Center to develop the company's patented 8-gram plastic-free dish detergent tablet.
That work led to the launch of a new dish detergent tablet at the American Cleaning Institute's Innovation Showcase in February 2026.
Itaconix said the product was generating strong interest from purpose-driven brands in North America.
The tablet is sold through the company's deeperclean.com e-commerce site and was featured in a recent Chemical and Engineering News article on the growth of solid unit-dose detergents.
The extended collaboration will help Itaconix work with contract manufacturers to install high-speed Bonals presses that produce more compact and faster-dissolving tablets.
The company plans to use its pilot-scale press to build volumes and win commercial traction with a select group of brands.
Olivier Desmarescaux, chief executive of Bonals, said the collaboration was keeping the company at the forefront of plastic-free tablets in North America that were competitively priced and better for the environment.
John Shaw, chief executive of Itaconix, said the work demonstrated a sizable opportunity to replicate the company's European tablet success in North America.
He added that the response to the 8-gram dish detergent tablet had been positive.
Itaconix produces polymers used in detergents and other everyday consumer goods, positioning its technology as a plastic-free alternative in the cleaning sector.
