Seeing Machines wins two Japanese OEM contracts worth $11m

Seeing Machines Ltd (AIM:SEE, OTC:SEEMF, FRA:M2Z), the computer vision company focused on transport safety, has secured contracts to supply driver and occupant monitoring software to two separate Japanese car manufacturers, with a combined initial lifetime value of approximately $11 million.

The awards were won through existing Tier 1 customers operating in both Europe and Japan, and cover software across multiple vehicle platforms scheduled to enter production from 2028.

The programmes span single and dual camera architectures, including steering column-mounted and overhead console positions.

Seeing Machines said the wins reflect growing momentum among Japanese original equipment manufacturers as they adopt advanced in-cabin sensing technology to support semi-automated driving and meet tightening safety requirements, including Euro NCAP standards.

Euro NCAP, the European New Car Assessment Programme, is the independent body that awards star safety ratings to new vehicles and has increasingly mandated driver monitoring systems as a prerequisite for top scores.

The company said the awards further reinforce its position as a supplier to Tier 1 partners deploying next-generation safety systems at scale.

Chief executive Paul McGlone said the wins validate the company's long-term investment in Japan, where he said engagement from manufacturers was increasing as they broaden their sourcing strategies for in-cabin monitoring.

McGlone added that the programs were expected to underpin future organic growth as vehicle platforms, model variants and geographic deployments expand over time.

Seeing Machines' driver and occupant monitoring system, known as DMS/OMS, uses artificial intelligence to detect driver drowsiness, distraction and other unsafe behaviours in real time.

The technology is already deployed across automotive, aviation, mining and rail sectors, with the company having previously flagged Japan as a priority growth market given the country's significant concentration of global vehicle production.

The latest awards add to a growing automotive pipeline that Seeing Machines has been building through Tier 1 relationships, a model that allows it to scale across multiple manufacturer programmes without direct OEM customer concentration risk.

Production under both programmes is scheduled to begin in 2028.
