Critical Resources Ltd (ASX:CRR, FRA:9S70) has strengthened its board with the appointment of technology entrepreneur and executive Alfred Chong as a non-executive director, while long-serving director Nigel Broomham has stepped down from the board.
The changes took effect on June 3 and come as Critical Resources continues to broaden its focus beyond traditional mineral exploration, building out a portfolio that now spans battery technology, thermal management systems and critical minerals projects in Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
Chong brings more than four decades of experience in commercialisation, business development and technology growth across international markets. He is currently managing director and chief executive officer of Nanoveu and has founded or helped commercialise multiple technology businesses throughout his career.

Board transition
Chong's career includes senior executive roles with a range of international technology businesses, including positions as Asia Pacific chief executive officer of Atex Media Command, chief executive officer of THISS Technologies, chief executive officer of 121View and chief marketing officer of 3D International. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of San Francisco.
Meanwhile, Critical Resources thanked outgoing non-executive director Nigel Broomham for his contribution to the company.

Chong's appointment adds technology commercialisation experience to the board as Critical Resources continues to evaluate opportunities across its diversified portfolio.
Technology expertise joins evolving strategy
The appointment follows a series of moves that have expanded Critical Resources' exposure to advanced battery technologies alongside its exploration assets.
Last month, the company reported encouraging results from a sulphur-free solid-state electrolyte program, with performance at room temperature matching leading sulphide-class solid-state battery systems.
The work forms part of a broader technology commercialisation strategy that has included securing rights to NTU-developed thermal management technology aimed at improving battery safety and performance.
Those initiatives sit alongside the company's traditional resources portfolio, which includes the Mavis Lake Lithium Project in Ontario, the Halls Peak Base Metals Project in New South Wales and a growing gold exploration portfolio in New Zealand.
