Percheron flags ASCO nod for HMBD-002 cancer therapy data

New preclinical data for Percheron Therapeutics Ltd (ASX:PER, OTC:PERCF) investigational cancer therapy HMBD-002 has been accepted for presentation at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting in Chicago from May 29 to June 2.

The abstract was submitted by a research team at Brisbane-based QIMR Berghofer and reflects ongoing collaboration between the parties to investigate the role of VISTA across several cancer types and identify potential biomarkers for future clinical trials.

ASCO is regarded as one of the key annual events for oncologists, clinical researchers, pharmaceutical companies and healthcare investors, drawing tens of thousands of delegates from more than 100 countries and territories each year.

Percheron said abstract acceptance is highly competitive, with only a minority of submissions selected for oral or poster presentation.

Research institute brings national scale

QIMR Berghofer is one of Australia’s leading independent medical research institutes, with research spanning cancer, infectious disease, population health and brain and mental health.

The institute is home to almost 1,000 scientists, students, visiting researchers and professional staff, and houses more than 60 research groups and laboratories.

Biomarker work supports future trials

Percheron said the abstract marks the latest outcome from its research collaboration with QIMR Berghofer, which is exploring the role of VISTA in several cancer types and assessing biomarkers that may support future clinical development.

The project has been led by Professor Sudha Rao, who specialises in cancer immunotherapy.

The company said it expects to release full results at the time of the conference, in line with ASCO embargo requirements.
