Astral secures $65 million to accelerate Mandilla development

Astral Resources NL (ASX:AAR) has locked in firm commitments for a strongly supported $65 million placement, giving the company a major funding boost as it pushes towards a Final Investment Decision (FID) for its 1.76-million-ounce Mandilla Gold Project near Kalgoorlie.

The equity raise — priced at $0.20 per share, a 9.1% discount to last closing price on Friday, December 5, 2025 — was significantly oversubscribed, drawing demand from a mix of existing and new institutional investors across Australia and overseas.

Managing director Marc Ducler said the response reflects growing confidence in Astral’s flagship project, which is nearing the completion of a Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS).

“As we close in on the delivery of the Mandilla DFS and move towards a Final Investment Decision, we are delighted with the strong support shown by high-calibre investors, both new and existing, in this placement,” Ducler said. “The quality of the participants and the quantum of funds raised is testament to the outstanding credentials of the Mandilla Gold Project, which is shaping up as one of Australia’s best near-term gold development stories.”

Funding a near-term producer

The placement comprises roughly 325 million shares across two tranches. Tranche 1 will issue around 316.5 million shares under Astral’s existing placement capacity, while Tranche 2 — including 1.1 million shares subscribed for by directors — will be subject to shareholder approval at a January 2026 general meeting.

Once complete, the company will have about 1.8 billion shares on issue.

Proceeds will be combined with Astral’s cash reserves and potential early mining revenue from the Think Big deposit to cover a substantial portion of the equity required for Mandilla’s development. Astral has already outlined 1.76 million ounces in total resources and 1.08 million ounces in reserves across Mandilla, with the DFS due in the June 2026 quarter.

Ducler said the strengthened balance sheet positions Astral to advance discussions with domestic and international lenders and “rapidly progress to a Final Investment Decision once the Mandilla DFS is complete”.

Exploration and early-works momentum

Funds will also support expanded drilling across Astral’s broader Kalgoorlie portfolio, including Feysville and Spargoville, where recent campaigns have highlighted further growth potential.

At Mandilla, Astral recently wrapped up a 99-hole infill drilling program at the Theia deposit, confirming the continuity of high-grade zones and strengthening plans for a starter pit. Earlier results also uncovered new mineralised trends west of Theia, pointing to additional discovery upside.

Placement funds will be directed towards:

  • Near-mine growth and extensional drilling across Mandilla, Feysville and Spargoville.
  • Completion of the Mandilla DFS.
  • Infrastructure early works and procurement of long-lead items.
  • Exploration support, evaluation activities and working capital.

Euroz Hartleys and Canaccord Genuity acted as joint lead managers to the placement.

With drilling momentum continuing and feasibility work entering its final stages, Astral says the company is now positioned to transition Mandilla into one of Kalgoorlie’s next producing gold mines.
