AuMEGA Metals Ltd (ASX:AAM, TSX:AUM, OTCQB:AUMMF) has created a Technical Committee of the board to tighten oversight of its exploration programs across its district-scale ground in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The committee will comprise at least three directors with geological and mining backgrounds. It will work with management and the company’s technical team on exploration priorities and will act as a liaison with key strategic shareholders on long-term planning.
AuMEGA is exploring a district-scale land package spanning ~110 kilometres along the Cape Ray Shear Zone — a major gold-bearing structure in Newfoundland that also hosts Equinox Gold’s Valentine Gold Project. AuMEGA says this corridor contains several dozen high-priority targets in addition to its defined gold resource.
Beyond Cape Ray, the company holds 27 kilometres of the Hermitage Flexure and has an option over the Blue Cove Copper Project in southeastern Newfoundland, which is considered prospective for copper and other base metals.
Mineral resources
At Cape Ray, AuMEGA reports the following gold mineral resources:
- Indicated: 6.1 million tonnes at 2.25 g/t Au for 450,000 ounces.
- Inferred: 3.4 million tonnes at 1.44 g/t Au for 160,000 ounces.
Board change
AuMEGA’s non-executive director Kerry Sparkes will retire from the board effective November 30, 2025, as he steps back from public company roles to focus on personal commitments.
“It has been a privilege to contribute to AuMEGA’s growth over the past several years. I continue to believe in the potential of the company’s portfolio and in the strategy and capability of the board and management to unlock value. I look forward to supporting the company as a committed shareholder as it advances its exploration programs,” Sparkes said.
Sparkes joined AuMEGA as a technical adviser in June 2021, became a director in September 2022 and most recently chaired the remuneration and nomination committee. The company credited him with a significant role in shaping exploration strategy in Newfoundland and Labrador.
“Kerry has made several contributions in AuMEGA’s journey. As a Newfoundlander with an exceptional technical and industry background, his guidance and perspective have meaningfully contributed to the company’s progress. On behalf of the board, I thank Kerry for his service, integrity, and commitment, and wish him the very best,” AuMEGA Metal chair Justin Osborne said.
AuMEGA ended the September quarter with C$6.3 million (A$6.86 million) in cash, funding one of its largest, most systematic exploration programs in Newfoundland. With no production revenue reported, the quarter focused on target generation and testing to advance Cape Ray and earlier-stage regional assets.
