UPDATE - DP Poland raises dough to fund Domino's Pizza roll-out

The Domino's Pizza brand is known in Warsaw but DP Poland wants to establish it in other parts of Poland

---ADDS BROKER COMMENT---

DP Poland (LON:DPP), which operates Domino's Pizza outlets in Poland, is raising some dough through a placing of shares at 15.8p a slice.

The company has conditionally placed 34.8mln shares at a discount of around 9.1% to Monday night's closing mid-market price, to raise around £5.5mln.

The funds will help the company to accelerate the roll-out of company-controlled pizza outlets across Poland.

DP plans to open up to 20 outlets in 2016/17, and ramp-up the marketing spend to increase awareness of the Domino's Pizza brand.

In the longer term, the company will sub-franchise the Domino's Pizza brand in Poland, but for now the plan is to prove the concept with outlets that are controlled by the company. This will have an impact on the group's underlying earnings (EBITDA) in the short term, as the company will foot the bill for opening costs and swallow the losses that a new outlet typically sustains in the early days of operation.

The company revealed that it continued to trade strongly in the second quarter of 2015 and is on track to meet market expectations in respect of the current financial year.

House broker Peel Hunt noted: "The need for a fund raising has been well flagged and this uncertainty has now been removed."

Analyst Nick Batram said 2014 had demonstrated the positive momentum in the business, the success of the new S2 store format and the promising performance of stores in new markets outside Warsaw.

Shares eased 4.29% to 16.75p.
