Inspired Capital shot up after Joe Lewis, the Bermuda-based trader, made a bid for the company.

RISERS

Altona Energy (LON:ANR), up 27.8%. The company hopes to update the market soon on discussions between the joint venture parties over the development of the Arkaringa coal deposit.

Regency Mines (LON:RGM), up 20.0%. Reiner Rensch has lifted his holding above 5%.

Inspired Capital (LON:INSC), up 19.7% to 19p. Billionaire trader Joe Lewis has made a bid for the company at 20p a share.

FALLERS

Milestone Group (LON:MSG), down 15.0%. The digital media firm has raised £217,000 through the issue of 21.95mln shares at a penny each, which is double last night's closing mid-market price.

Mosman Oil & Gas (LON:MSMN), down 12.5%. The company's offer for MEO has now closed and the company revealed its stake stands at 2.44%, making it the second largest shareholder on the MEO register.

LGO Energy (LON:LGO), down 10.3%. The company has spudded well GY-675, the 12th new development well in its flagship Goudron field in Trinidad.

RISERS

Soco International (LON:SIA), up 6.6%. Jefferies has moved its price target for the shares up to 190p from 180p, and the shares have responded by moving up to 189.6p from 178p.

Poundland Group (LON:PLND), up 0.6%. The discount retailer is due to issue a trading update on Thursday.

Thomas Cook (LON:TCG), up 0.4%. The travel firm's joint venture with Chinese conglomerate Fosun to target the Chinese tourist market has received the thumbs-up from the market.

FALLERS

Tullett Prebon (LON:TLPR), down 7.4%. HSBC has downgraded the inter-dealer broker from 'buy' to 'hold'.

Standard Chartered (LON:STAN), down 3.4%. Jefferies has slashed its target price for the emerging markets-focused bank to 656p from 722p.

Victrex (LON:VCT), down 3.0%. The price target of the polymer solutions company has been chopped from 2,350p to 2,200p by banking heavyweight Deutsche Bank.

RISERS

Eclectic Bar Group (LON:BAR), up 22.7% at 59.5p. Entrepreneur Luke Johnson has agreed to pump £1.5mln into bars operator Eclectic. Johnson, who has a long history of investing in food & drinks establishments such as Pizzaexpress, is subscribing for 3mln shares at 50p a pop and will take over as unpaid non-executive chairman. Eclectic CEO Reuben Harley and CFO John Smith are each buying 150,000 shares at the same price.

Northern Bear (LON:NTBR), up 11.0% at 55.5p. Specialist building services provider Northern Bear cheered the market by revealing trading in the financial year just ended was ahead of expectations.

Dragon Oil (LON:DGO), up 8.2% at 725p. The Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) has made an agreed offer to buy all the shares in Dragon Oil that it does not already own. It is offering to pay 750p a share in a deal that values Dragon at around £3.7bn.

FALLERS

Management Resource Solutions (LON:MRS), down 23.1% at 10p. Trading in the company's shares has resumed after its deal to with Halcyon Capital Management to acquire D&M Group fell through.

Sabien Technology (LON:SNT), down 20.0% at 8p. The company warned that sales and profits for the current financial year will be below expectations because of delays in some substantial orders. The company has changed its pilot scheme policy to reduce the sales cycle period.

Central Rand Gold (LON:CRNS), down 13.6% at .12.75p. The company had hoped to have a binding agreement on its proposed sale of Central Rand Gold (Netherlands Antilles) NV by now, but has extended the target completion date by a month to 15 July.
