Defence Holdings strikes AI deal with Whitespace for UK military use

Defence Holdings PLC (LSE:ALRT), the UK’s first listed software-led defence company, has formed a partnership with Whitespace Global to develop artificial intelligence systems for national security applications.

The agreement will see the two groups co-develop defence-focused software on Whitespace’s Collective OS platform, which is already deployed in classified environments, including a UK naval vessel.

The first AI product is under construction for the Ministry of Defence, though details remain classified.

Defence Holdings said it would fund initial builds and benefit from revenue sharing and structured cost recovery once applications are deployed.

Future projects will focus on autonomous decision-making, secure intelligence analysis, and protection of critical infrastructure.

Andrew McCartney, chief technology officer of Defence Holdings, said the partnership would allow the company to deliver “operational capability at unprecedented speed.”
