IXICO CEO Bram Goorden talks growth, biomarkers, data deals - ICYMI

IXICO PLC (LSE:IXI, OTC:PHYOF) CEO Bram Goorden talked with Proactive about the company’s expansion strategy and financial outlook for 2025.

Goorden confirmed that IXICO expects full-year revenues of £6.30 million, reflecting a 5% uplift over prior guidance and a 9% increase compared to 2024.

Goorden highlighted continued momentum in diversifying IXICO’s portfolio beyond Huntington’s disease, moving into Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. He explained, “We also see our pipeline and our order book now showing more of these projects.”

Other growth drivers included deeper collaboration with clients and IXICO’s role in securing FDA approval for Fujirebio Diagnostics’ first Alzheimer’s blood-based biomarker test in the US.

The CEO described this as the beginning of a broader multimodality strategy and anticipated further contracts stemming from these capabilities.

Looking ahead, IXICO plans to secure at least one major data partnership to extend its technology platform to new customers and expects additional wins from its expanded US footprint.

Proactive: Bram, very good to speak with you. Could you summarise the key highlights from your second-half trading update, please?

Bram, very good to speak with you. Could you summarise the key highlights from your second-half trading update, please?

Bram Goorden: We said today that we’re going to land £6.30 million as revenues for the full year 2025. You may remember that our first half was quite successful. We actually reported a 26% increase compared to 2024. So the current guidance is a 5% uplift or upgrade compared to our previous guidance and a 9% increase compared to 2024. Obviously, we’ll keep pushing to get that to double-digit growth. I think maybe important to mention as well is that we do expect our EBITDA to land around -£1.70 million, which is similar to the previous year. As you may remember, we did a capital raise, so from a cash perspective, we are quite cash-rich, I would say, as a company. But obviously, we’re putting that money to work. That’s why you see those numbers. So I think a pretty healthy financial state.

Proactive: Bram, what was the driver of that second-half growth?

Bram Goorden: I would say pretty much the same as the first half. We see a continuation of the strategy, which you may remember—Innovate, Lead, Scale. That has a lot to do with the diversification of our portfolio. IXICO is very well known for the neuroscience space, the area in which we operate, but also the rare neurodegenerative disease space, for example, Huntington’s disease, which is our bread and butter. Now we’re really setting out to broaden that into Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Those are very big areas where we see a lot of optimism and momentum. We also see our pipeline and order book showing more of these projects. That is one.

The second is scope extension, which has to do with our thought leadership. We have deepened collaboration with existing clients, digging deeper into patient characteristics, biomarkers, and salvaging some of these trials because that is very much the name of the game in pharma.

The third is what I call multimodality, which is broadening into other verticals. You may remember that in June, we announced that we had been instrumental in helping Fujirebio Diagnostics, Inc. get their blood-based biomarker approval in the FDA in the US. That was the first Alzheimer’s blood-based biomarker test. For us, this represents the start of serving a new type of customer, and we expect we’ll continue doing that.

Proactive: What can we expect to see from IXICO for the remainder of the full year 2025 and into 2026?

Bram Goorden: At the risk of sounding boring, I was going to say more of the same again. Although that’s not entirely true. We’ve just embarked on that trip of going much deeper into Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. That’s a long-term strategy, so you should watch out for more of those wins and an order book showing a big proportion in those disease areas. In addition, we will continue partnerships with our technology platform. One of the goals we’ve set is to have at least one important data partnership, playing with a big data partner to put our platform to work with different customer types. That is something to watch out for. Other than that, we have invested in footprint expansion in the US, and the expectation is we will see more wins from that arena.

Proactive: Well, I hope you’ll continue to keep us updated with your progress. Thank you very much for the time today.
