Cassel Capital shares surge on plan to reboot as Defence Holdings

Cassel Capital Plc, a shell which was previously Guild Esports, has now announced its full reboot plan to become Defence Holdings PLC (LSE:ALRT).

It intends to focus on next-generation defence systems, including AI-enabled sensing, secure communications and autonomous platforms.

The shares will begin trading under the ticker ‘ALRT’ from Thursday (22 May).

Defence Holdings director Brian Stockbridge described a “generational opportunity”.

"Europe's security outlook has shifted dramatically over the past three years,” Stockbridge said in a statement.

“Our rebrand signals a decisive commitment to deliver the resilient, high-technology solutions that British and European customers now demand.”

Stockbridge added: “We intend to couple the agility of a technology scale-up with the governance standards of a London-listed company, positioning ourselves at the forefront of the region's defence-innovation ecosystem.”

In London, Cassel shares were up 57.5% on Wednesday at 0.16p.

The company rebranded as Cassell Capital in January and seems to have dropped one of its 'Ls' since then.

Before that, Guild Esports was a competitive video gaming team backed by David Beckham, with commercial deals and partnerships with Sky.

In 2024, the esports business was sold to DCB Sports, a California-based investor that also owns an interest in Italian soccer team Venezia FC and a team in an indoor golf league.
