Leeuwin Metals Ltd Leeuwin has confirmed the high-grade potential of its Marda Central prospect in Western Australia following a detailed review of historical drilling data, completed in parallel with the Phase One drilling program.
The company completed Phase One of its maiden reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the wholly owned Marda Gold Project, with assays from the campaign set to inform the design of Phase Two.
Marda is located in a region with established infrastructure and a history of open-pit gold production, providing a strong foundation for near-term exploration and development.
The initial program totalled approximately 2,000 metres and was centred on the Marda Central area, where drilling targeted shallow, high-grade gold mineralisation adjacent to historically mined open pits.
This work represents the first stage of a broader 10,000 metre campaign slated for 2025, aimed at systematically testing priority targets across the project area.
“We’ve moved quickly to deliver on our strategy at Marda. The successful completion of our maiden drill program so soon after acquiring the asset reflects our determination to drive exploration and newsflow in a timely, effective manner,” executive chairman, Christopher Piggott, said.
“Marda Central has excellent potential for near-surface ounces, and this program provides an important first test of the broader system. The technical team is now finalising our structural and geochemical interpretation to support follow-up drilling across multiple targets”
Historical review confirms high-grade gold zones at Marda Central
Leeuwin undertook a detailed review of historical drilling data.
The review identified multiple unmined, high-grade gold mineralised zones extending over a 3 kilometre strike, lying outside previously mined areas. These results are being incorporated into the planning and refinement of targets for the Company’s broader 2025 drilling campaign.
Significant historical intercepts included:
- 62 metres at 1.94 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 102 metres (MRC292)
- 48 metres at 1.95 g/t gold from 94 metres (MRC346)
- 22 metres at 3.27 g/t gold from 98 metres (PYRC040)
- 11 metres at 6.9 g/t gold from 21 metres (MRC364)
- 9 metres at 7.93 g/t gold from 41 metres (MAR074)

The results highlighted the potential for new mineralised zones adjacent to historical workings and provide strong support for the Company’s ongoing exploration strategy.
In parallel, Leeuwin is undertaking broader data reviews across other brownfield prospects including Evanston, Golden Orb, King Brown, and Marda West. These reviews aim to generate additional targets for drill testing during the latter half of 2025.
What’s next?
With the maiden reverse circulation (RC) drilling program now complete, assay results are anticipated in May 2025 and will guide the prioritisation of targets for the next phase of exploration. Mobilisation for follow-up drilling will begin once the initial results are received, with planning already underway.
The next stage will include further work at Marda Central, along with initial drilling at key prospects such as Python, Dugite, Dolly Pot and Goldstream.
Concurrently, geochemical and lithological reinterpretation of the broader Marda dataset is advancing, aimed at refining high-priority targets across the project.
Detailed reviews of the Evanston, Golden Orb and King Brown areas are ongoing and will contribute to the design and execution of the broader 10,000-metre drilling campaign scheduled for 2025.
