Leeuwin Metals Ltd has picked out extensive zones of high-grade gold mineralisation across a 3 kilometre strike at the Marda Central trend in WA, as part of a comprehensive review of historical drilling data.
The review has the aim of defining additional brownfield opportunities to support a pipeline of near-term development targets.
These results point to promising exploration upside, and drilling is already underway to test priority targets.
Substantial upside
Leeuwin executive chair Christopher Piggott said: “The drilling results uncovered by the review of Marda Central strengthen our view about the substantial upside at Marda.
“The results show there is extensive mineralisation outside the mined areas, including high-grade zones, and highlight the potential to create value by extending this mineralisation, current drilling is targeting extensions of this mineralisation.
“They also show there has been little or no deeper drilling, which represents a significant opportunity for Leeuwin, particularly given that the mineralisation is hosted in banded iron formations, which are known for extending at depth.
“Given the success of this review, we will now conduct similar assessments of other key areas at Marda, including Evanston, Golden Ord and King Brown with the expectation there will be additional brownfield targets identified.
“This will be done in parallel with ongoing assessments of early-stage prospects within the project area and other opportunities within the region.”
The newly defined mineralisation lies outside the four pits previously mined by Ramelius Resources and includes multiple thick and high-grade intersections.
Standout results
Standout results include 62 metres at 1.94 g/t gold from 102 metres, 22 metres at 3.27 g/t gold from 98 metres and 11 metres at 6.9 g/t gold from 21 metres, all of which remain unmined.
Mineralisation is hosted in banded iron formations (BIFs) known for their continuity and depth potential.
High-priority targets have been identified across the Dolly Pot, Python, Dugite, Gold Stream, Taipan and Cobra prospects, with each demonstrating strong potential for resource growth.
In parallel, Leeuwin is advancing project-wide reviews across the Evanston, Golden Orb and King Brown areas within the broader Marda Gold Project.
Covering over 500 square kilometres, the Marda Gold Project comprises a strategic package of mining, exploration and prospecting licences 120 kilometres north of Southern Cross.
With more than 350,000 metres of historical drilling, the project provides a strong foundation for discovery and future resource definition.
