Ford UK facing 24-hour strike by admin staff

Ford UK is facing a 24-hour walk-out by more than 1,000 administrative staff at plants in Dunton, Stratford, Dagenham, Daventry and Halewood on Wednesday in a long-running pay dispute.

Union Unite said office workers have been offered a one-off payment for this year instead of a permanent pay rise, with performance-related pay to be introduced next year.

Sick pay policy and the union’s collective bargaining agreement also face changes, Unite said.

The action escalates a dispute that has been underway since June with Unite saying its counter proposals have yet to receive a ‘good faith’ response.

Ford responded: "Considering the overall competitiveness of our general salary roll employee pay and benefits package, the company's final offer of a 5 % total pay increase for 2023/24 is fair and balanced.”

The UK's parent company on Monday said it expected underlying profits this year of US$10 billion after EV losses of US$5 billion.
