Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) boss Elon Musk has dropped his lawsuit against OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT.
The tech billionaire, also owner of SpaceX and X.com, filed the lawsuit in February against the company he co-founded with its CEO Sam Altman.
Musk had accused the $80 billion startup and Altman of straying from its initial goal of creating artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity rather than for profit.
But his lawyers moved to withdraw the case without prejudice just a day before a San Francisco judge was set to hear OpenAI's request to dismiss the case.
A filing overnight was issued without offering any reason for the case's dismissal, though as it was "without prejudice" it allows Musk to potentially reactivate it at a later stage.
Musk has started his own artificial intelligence company, xAI, to compete with OpenAI, developing a chatbot called Grok using data from X.com social media platform,
Earlier this week, Musk criticised Apple for its partnership with OpenAI, saying he would ban iPhones at his companies if OpenAI was integrated at the operating system level, as an "unacceptable security violation."
