Wise PLC's (LSE:WISE) year-end trading update on Tuesday 16 April after outstripping expectations in the preceding quarter, with analysts expecting the focus to be on customer growth and average spending.
At the third quarter, eyebrows were also raised at investment bank Jefferies due to what seemed a continuous slowdown in core total payment volume, which analysts said was a "key concern".
For this coming update they expect scrutiny of other card spend fees and active customer growth, though no guidance for the new financial year is likely until final results in June.
Last time, the cross-border payments challenger reported a 40% rise in Q3 income, a 30% increase in the customer base to 7.5 million users, while cross-border payment volumes were up 16% year-on-year.
Wise’s volume per customer (VPC), a key metric in assessing customer profitability, declined 11% to £4.1k.
Jefferies said it was looking for other fees in Q4 to grow 66% on a year ago, or 4% on Q3 as Wise card usage continues to rise; active customers to rise 28% y/y; VPC to step down to £4.0k in what is a seasonally lower quarter; and total wise accounts to reach £13.6 billion - up 27% y/y and 5% q/q.
A new finance chief poached from Delivery Hero (ETR:DHER, OTCQX:DLVHF) is not starting until the autumn.
