Mark Zuckerberg’s cage fight with Elon Musk has (unsurprisingly) yet to materialise but in an arguably more important area of billionaire one-upmanship, the Facebook founder is back on top.
For the first time since 2020, the social media guru’s net worth is higher than Tesla boss and bitter rival Musk according to Bloomberg’s latest billionaire index.
Zuckerberg, worth an estimated US$187 billion, has ridden an AI resurgence in his company, now called Meta, while Musk (US$181 billion) has seen Tesla shares sink on worries about sales and Chinese EV competition.
Musk challenged Zuckerberg last year to a public cage fight with the proceeds going to charity, though as yet getting agreement on a date has proved difficult.
LVMH founder Bernard Arnault has returned to the top of the list as the world’s richest person with a fortune of US$223 billion, while Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is next at $207 billion.
