Aviva, Flutter, British Land and more: What brokers said today

FedEx Corp (NYSE:FDX, ETR:FDX) is likely to have faced pressure from poor weather over the third quarter, UBS analysts have warned, prompting a cut to forecasts.

Ahead of the international shipping firm’s update on Thursday, UBS said in a note that its delivery wing would likely now only break even, rather than enjoying a 0.5% margin as previously expected.

News of Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL, ETR:APC) and Google’s discussions over the rollout of the latter’s Gemini AI chatbot on iPhones sent shares higher and prompted positive feedback from analysts on Monday.

Apple climbed 1.4% on the reports that it would license Gemini to power new features in its latest iPhone software, while Google owner Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) jumped 4.6%.

Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE, ETR:NKE)'s fiscal third quarter profits are expected to take a hit from previously announced restructuring charges amid declining sales, Bank of America Securities analysts believe.

Ahead of Nike’s results, due on Thursday, March 21, after the stock market closes, the analysts lowered their price objective on the stock from $125 to $120. Nike shares traded hands at $99 on Monday afternoon.

British luxury carmaker Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings PLC (LSE:AML) got a mixed report card from US bank Jefferies on Monday, including raising worries on a long-held issue of succession plans.

On the bright side, analysts were pleased with the carmakers' debt refinancing operations, which “stabilises liquidity and provides more time for execution”.

Neither of the two big UK bookmakers - Flutter Entertainment PLC (LSE:FLTR) and Entain PLC (LSE:ENT) - seemed to have been swayed by the latest positive data emanating from the US covering February.

The read-out is important on two counts. First, both gaming companies have a significant presence in the States. In the case of Flutter, it owns FanDuel, the American sportsbook.

Jefferies has raised its price target for shares in Aviva PLC (LSE:AV.) after the latter's strategic update, which gave the US investment bank several reasons to be upbeat.

Jefferies has taken its valuation to 525p from 490p (current price 482p) and maintains its 'buy' recommendation.

UBS maintains some misgivings about London Stock Exchange Group PLC's (LSE:LSEG) despite the capital markets and data firm's shares selling at a relative discount to US counterparts.

The main problem for the analysts at the Swiss bank is LSEG’s lack of earnings momentum, which was used to justify a 'neutral' rating.

US bank Stifel has provided its insight on Chariot Ltd (AIM:CHAR, OTC:OIGLF)'s Transitional Power business, which, it reckons, is worth more than the entire company as it trades at its current share price of 7.46p a share.

Stifel thinks the operation, which has four projects generating 515MW of electricity, is worth $132 million, or 10p a share.

British Land Co's (LSE:BLND) formation of a 50/50 joint venture with Royal London Asset Management to develop a science and innovation building in Regent’s Place is a “good move”, reckon analysts at Shore Capital.

The joint venture is to help accelerate the delivery of British Land’s £385 million overhaul of 1 Triton Square, formerly the European headquarters of Facebook owner Meta Platforms, into a London sci-tech hub.

Driven by new European rules mandating driver monitoring technology in cars from later this year, Seeing Machines should enjoy a solid end to the year, Stifel said in a note on Monday.

Hipgnosis Songs Fund (LSE:SONG) now has potential grounds to part ways with fund manager Hipgnosis Song Management (HSM) – and without paying too large a settlement fee, analysts suggested.

The investment trust, which owns portfolios of music rights from artists ranging from Blondie and Red Hot Chili Peppers to Shakira and 50 Cent, today said it had discovered a double-counting error which caused net asset value to be overstated.
