Seeing Machines Ltd (AIM:SEE, OTC:SEEMF) said it has won contracts from three commercial vehicle and bus manufacturers in Europe and the UK to supply its third-generation Guardian driver safety system.
The company launched the next generation product targeting the factory-fit segment ahead of the implementation of Europe’s General Safety Regulation (GSR) in July, which mandates the installation of driver drowsiness and attention warning (DDAW) systems in all new cars, vans, trucks and buses.
The Guardian Generation 3 units will start to be supplied to the three manufacturing customers from April, to be installed in six heavy vehicle models.
Together, the three customers could require installations in around 3,000 vehicles per year, Seeing Machines said, based on the initial order volumes.
The initial focus will be to ensure compliance with DDAW requirements, followed by advanced driver distraction warning (ADDW).
Chief executive Paul McGlone said the company is continuing to work with “many manufacturers” in Europe and the UK as regulatory deadlines approach.
He added that the orders from three major manufacturers “underscores the effectiveness and reliability of Guardian Generation 3 and is testament to the class-leading, AI-driven technology we have developed over the past 20+ years for the fleet sector”.
