Seeing Machines Ltd (AIM:SEE, OTC:SEEMF) told investors it will lift the bonnet on the latest version of its driver monitoring system (DMS), Guardian Generation 3, at CES 2024 in Las Vegas today.
Guardian Generation 3 has been independently tested to meet new European drowsiness detection regulations coming into force this summer, the company said. The rules require all new cars, vans, trucks and buses to be equipped with drowsiness and attention warning (DDAW) systems from 6 July.
Visitors to the Seeing Machines CES 2024 private suite will be able to see refinements in the enhanced version of the DMS's optics and algorithms that include an improved ability to detect microsleep and track eye-gaze to detect distracted driving, with independent tests confirming the technology meets the European Commission's regulations.
Guardian technology offers “compliance certainty” for manufacturers of commercial vehicles to implement the technology in their own factories or after manufacture so they can sell fully compliant vehicles, the company added.
Chief executive Paul McGlone said: “Regulation continues to drive demand for all of our DMS technology.”
He added: “A reliable solution that only activates when required is so important for driver adoption and continued road safety.”
As for the commercial vehicle market, McGlone said the company's providing OEMs with an aftermarket or factory fit solution is “critical to their ability to sell compliant vehicles”. Even with the lower annual volume of production of these vehicles versus cars, he said Seeing Machines is able to service this new market segment profitably.
