The Afterhours — Costco, Scholastic, Lennar report

Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ:COST) stock rose 1.2% in extended trading after the company’s first-quarter sales topped expectations.

The bulk retailer posted revenue of $57.8 billion, up 6.2% year over year and above expectations of $57.72 billion. Membership fee revenue increased 8.2% to $1.08 billion.

Net income was $3.58 per share, compared to $3.07 per share a year earlier.

Scholastic Corporation (NASDAQ:SCHL) shares plummeted 11% as the children’s education and media company reported fiscal second-quarter earnings below Wall Street estimates and lowered its full-year profit and sales outlook.

It posted 2Q earnings per share of $2.45, up 16% year-over-year but below estimates of $2.65.

Lennar (NYSE:LEN) shares fell 3.5% after hours Thursday despite the company beating expectations on the top and bottom lines with its fourth-quarter results. The dip reversed some of the stock’s 6.7% gain during the Thursday trading session.

Lennar (NYSE:LEN) posted adjusted earnings of $5.17 per share on revenue of $10.97 billion, above Street expectations of $4.64 per share on revenue of $10.34 billion.
