TUI results could provide boost

TUI AG (LSE:TUI) will publish final results for a year that seemed to end on a high as numbers of holidaymakers continue to recover from the depths of the pandemic.

In September the world’s largest tour operator said bookings in the summer had returned close to pre-Covid levels, with annual underlying profit (EBIT) for the year to 30 September expected to rise significantly.

Hotels & Resorts were said to be close to what was a strong 2022 while both cruises and airlines were tipped to achieve a significantly improved results.

This was before a later update where TUI said it was extending its holiday season after extreme heat forced holidaymakers to reschedule their summer break, with demand for October trips up 8%.

Earlier in the summer it warned of an expected €25 million hit from Rhodes wildfires.

In October, shares in the company fell to 400p, down around half since January, but have been making a recovery in recent weeks.
