YouGov results could bring a downgrade and news of US listing

YouGov PLC's (AIM:YOU) last trading update in July highlighted pressures on the client side, while since then the possibility of a US listing has emerged.

In August, the polling and market research company told media it is contemplating a US listing, joining a growing exodus from London.

Part of the reasoning was that in the month earlier it had struck a deal to buy Gfk's consumer panels business for €315 million (£268 million).

Also that month it warned that a longer sales cycles and protracted decision-making from client had led it to guide to full-year revenue coming at the lower end of forecasts.

Despite this, the focus on high-margin products and services meant the company expected adjusted operating profit to be in line with market expectations, with strong balance sheet.

"The key for the results is whether a downgrade is coming, especially given the shares have fallen 22% in the last 30 days alone," said analysts at Peel Hunt.

"We believe confidence in meeting consensus will be enough for them to regain a positive trajectory."

Other than details about client spending trends and their impact, the analysts said they also hope to hear on the progress of the GFK consumer panel acquisition and the expected completion date, which could if earlier result in tweaks to forecasts.

At the time of the update the revenue forecast range was £257-274 million and adjusted operating profit was £46-50 million.
