YouGov mulling US listing

YouGov PLC (AIM:YOU), the polling and data analytics company, is contemplating a US listing, potentially marking another setback for the London Stock Exchange, according to the Financial Times.

Newly appointed chairman Stephan Shakespeare, who founded the business along with former chancellor Nadhim Zahawi, said that the £272 million acquisition of Germany's GfK, which expanded its operations, has made a move to the US more appealing.

Shakespeare told the FT that the US, being YouGov's largest market and a major spender on marketing data, seems like a "natural base" for the firm.

The company, which currently holds a valuation exceeding £1 billion, might either shift its primary listing to the US or establish a secondary one there, the paper added.

This potential move aligns with a trend of UK companies looking to the US for higher valuations and more substantial capital.

Although the company has a strong association with British politics, its primary focus remains on providing insights to businesses about brand and advertising perceptions. Recently, YouGov has also begun incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into its operations.
