Analysts believe the new Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone model will come with faster modem chips and upgrades to its camera technology, but the biggest change is the switch from its lightning charging port to the USB-C port, the industry standard used across most devices.
What to expect
Releasing a whole range of iPhone models, Apple is expected to reveal the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max as well as the 15 Plus, with one of the large changes rumoured being the immediate release of Indian-produced devices –the company normally launches with products which have been produced in China.
A new Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra have also been rumoured for a release at the live event, which can be watched on YouTube or by clicking here.
Slightly less likely to get released but still rumoured nonetheless is a new version of the iPad mini and the AirPods Lite, a cheaper alternative to the £150 wireless earphones.
Software updates for operating systems like IOS, watchOS and iPadOS are also expected, but analysts don’t believe much information will be provided apart from the release date, which is normally a few days after the event.
Share Price
Investors appear slightly cautious ahead of the release as shares in the world’s largest company have slipped close to 6% in the last five days, a likely response to China banning the use of iPhones by government offices and state-backed companies.
Today’s event is the first conference from the firm since it announced the VisionPro back in June, and it appears Apple’s new innovations and inventions will be focused on the mixed-reality product rather than anything from this announcement.
Siri 2.0
AI has been the talk of the town for nearly every tech company over the last year and rivals like Meta, Google and Microsoft have all been testing the water with chatbots and machine learning models.
However, Apple remained quieter on the artificial intelligence front, but this doesn’t mean the group hasn’t been upping its investment into the tech.
“Significantly” upping its investment into the computer budget for building AI models, Apple is believed to be spending millions of dollars a day in development.
Whether this research is being used to develop a Siri 2.0 remains to be seen, but the tech giant may feel it is time to cash in on the boom.
