BATM wins cyber security contract with government defence department

BATM Advanced Communications Ltd (LSE:BVC) said its cyber security arm has won a US$3.4 million contract with a government defence department customer.

The software-based cyber security solution contract is with a long-standing customer and will start immediately and is expected to last for two years.

BATM, which noted that the contract follows the government cyber security order worth US$26 million in January, said it expects more “in the near term”.

Chief executive Moti Nagar said: "More and more, governments and businesses require cyber security options that are able to defend against increasingly sophisticated threats, and our continued momentum in this area of the business underscores the confidence in our ability to provide these solutions.

“We are very excited about the future of our cyber security business, particularly as we look to expand the applications of our cyber offerings and expect further positive news in the near future."

During the first half of the year, the board took an in-depth look at business, strategy and markets, with the result that the core activities prioritised for growth were the Networking, Cyber and Diagnostic line of business.

The Cyber unit also continued its development programme, including solutions, such as quantum key distribution (QKD) and post-quantum encryption, that are designed to address cyber risk in the quantum computing era, as well as solutions to allow expansion into new markets.
