James Cropper hails breakthrough with modularised hydrogen production unit

James Cropper plc (AIM:CRPR) subsidiary TFP Hydrogen has unveiled a modularised green hydrogen production unit, aimed at allowing future rapid scalability for electrolyser manufacturing.

The modular green hydrogen unit is ultimately designed to streamline supply chains by cutting manufacturing and installation times.

Hailing the unit as a “technological breakthrough”, advanced materials specialist James Cropper said the use of TFP Hydrogen’s coating could also rid manufacturers of challenges associated with titanium parts in electrolysers.

By minimising the likes of corrosion in the systems, better durability could extend systems’ lifetimes, the group explained.

“This is an important step forward in our innovation roadmap to support the hydrogen economy,” chief executive Steve Adams said.

Tipped as a potential alternative to transport fuels and energy storage, hydrogen can be produced cleanly if renewable electricity is used to power the process of electrolysis.

“Green hydrogen holds the promise of reshaping the energy landscape, propelling us towards achieving crucial net-zero targets by 2050,” TFP Hydrogen managing director David Hodgson added.
