Updates from Shell, Tesco, Ashtead, Bellway and Halma should keep investors interested, while interest rate decisions are due from the Federal Reserve and European Central Bank.
In a busy week for economic events and data, UK wages will be eyed ahead of a Bank of England meeting the following week.

Tuesday 13 June
With housebuilders on a sticky wicket at present, amid rising interest rates, demand slowing and inflation putting pressure on costs, a Bellway update could be interesting.
With a recent update from a sector peer showing sales slowing again as rising mortgage rates put off potential buyers, shares in the FTSE 250 company have been on the slide.
Up on the FTSE 100, Ashtead numbers will almost be a touchstone for the health of the US economy as around 85% of its sales and 90% of its profits come from its Sunbelt operation that is based there.
While worries about a US recession will be the focus when it reports, the plant hire group’s guidance has consistently pointed to rising sales growth and earnings.
Most recently, Ashtead said a sales growth target of 18% to 21% for the year just ended would be beaten.
Elsewhere, UK jobs numbers could shift a change in the mood around the next interest rate move and hence also the pound and the FTSE 100, while US inflation numbers later in the day could make big headlines and lead to considerable market volatility.

The US Fed is the big news of the week, with the decision coming late on Wednesday.
For investors in UK shares, there are a smattering of small cap releases, with perhaps the biggest company news likely to emanate from Shell PLC's (LSE:SHEL, NYSE:SHEL) capital markets day.
This event will spotlight how the group intends to balance its green aims against the huge profits currently being generated by its oil and gas businesses, amid accusations of foot-dragging, though analysts predict management will make a commitment to hand more cash out to shareholders.

Ex-dividends to reduce FTSE 100 by: 0.60
Friday 16 June
Tesco’s first quarter results are expected to see a focus on the effects of soaring food price inflation on the top line, according to analysts, with the UK's largest grocer having previously cautioned that profits this year will remain flat.
In the week leading up to results, the FTSE 100 group came under fire for confusing shoppers with the information on prices under its Clubcard loyalty scheme that may be against the law, though overall its prices have fallen more than some rivals.
